Core plug applicator for packaging of rolls

Core plug applicator

Automatic insertion of core plugs in rolls using a core plug applicator is now an option for the RoRo StretchPack® packaging machines.

The RoRo StretchPack® packaging machinery has become popular and especially for packaging of nonwoven rolls. The reason is that the horizontal packaging of rolls in a seamless tubular stretch film provides a 100% waterproof and uniformed packaging. It is clients within the nonwovens industry who has requested to include a core plug applicator in the packaging process.

The new plug applicator can insert core plugs in rolls with diameters up to 1400 mm. The diameter of each roll is measured automatically to ensure that the core plug is centred. The applicator has a magazine for 100+ core plugs. This way you can take advantage of the high capacity from a fully automated packaging line without any bottlenecks.

Tentoma and a new partner for horizontal packaging automation in Portugal

Tentoma and Sicorel join forces in Portugal and offer horizontal packaging automation.

Tentoma and Sicorel join forces in Portugal and offer horizontal packaging automation.

Horizontal packaging of goods can eliminate costly packaging process for production companies. Tentoma has developed a new technology called RoRo StretchPack or simply horizontal packaging. It can help companies protect their products from water, humidity and contamination during transport or storage. In addition, the solution leads to full automation of the packaging process. Now also in Portugal.

“We want to help our customers reduce packaging related costs, and, at the same time ensure high packaging quality. The costs can be reduced when applying less wrapping material and reducing the energy consumption compared to traditional solutions. This means that our machines have a very attractive repayment period”, so, Tentoma Sales Manager, Bruno Bach Jensen.

Tentoma has already put their machinery in operation in several European countries from Germany, Poland and Spain with new machines on the way to Sweden, Austria and Finland.

Lower costs and better environment with horizontal packaging

Tentoma has patented elements of the packaging machine that ensures high packaging quality combined with cost savings, less environmental impact and improved working environment. The fully automatic wrapping machine stretches and wraps a tube of plastic foil over the product.

The big difference to e.g. heat shrinkage ovens used in traditional package solutions is the very specific energy cost reduction which is significant in Portugal and this offers clear benefits for the environment as well when reducing CO2 emissions.

Long products (easy with horizontal packaging)

With Tentoma packaging machines our customers can get products packed in lengths of up to 8 meters. The products will then also benefit from a 100 pct. sealing which protects them from external impacts like water, humidity and contamination. “For our customers, the combination of high packaging quality and cost reductions, means highly attractive repayment periods”, so Managing Director of Sicorel, Ilidio Correia.

He continues, “the possible applications for this packaging machine makes it very interesting for us since it covers wood processed products, furniture, insulation materials in roll or plate form, building materials like gypsum boards, pipes, XPS, EPS, AAC/ALC, MDF boards, fibre boards and also eye to wall/sky rolls like geosynthetics and textiles”. More product examples can be found on www.tentoma.com.

Sales and Service in Portugal

“When agreeing on a partnership in Portugal is has been of importance to us, that the partner can focus on both sales and after sales services all over Portugal”, so Bruno Bach Jensen. With Oporto- and Lisbon based Sicorel this has been possible.

“We are pleased to introduce Tentoma packaging machines to the Portuguese market and look forward to introducing it to the Portuguese industrial market. A first launch has already been made during the recent Empack exhibtion in Oporto with overwhelmingly positive feed-back. We are very optimistic.”

Best in class horizontal pallet packaging!

Horizontal Pallet Packaging

The packaging industry hasn't shown major innovations in decades when it comes to resolving the problem of creating powerful containment forces on products or loads on pallets. This post is about how horizontal pallet packaging can change this with an innovative approach.

Learn in this post about how Tentoma got the challenge to demonstrate how RoRo StretchPack (leading horizontal packaging technology for large products) has solved the following problems known in the industry. First. Watch the video showing a simple and powerfull demonstration of how containment forces can change the pallet packaging industry.

Pallet Packaging – Best in class load stability

Typical problems in pallet packaging

  • Lack of containment forces on all pallet types
  • Product damage or contamination, including rain or dust, during the logistic journey at the highest value state of the product
  • High supply chain costs occur due to high packaging costs, given with strappings incl. machine maintenance, packaging materials and number of packaging processes

The solution to pallet packaging problems

  • Horizontal pallet packaging with RoRo StretchPack® increases containment forces with downforces on the load by utilizing the elasticity of a stretched PE-film
  • Supply chain savings are achieved by reducing the amount of film e.g., compared to vertical stretch hood or pallet wrapping
  • Product contamination is eliminated because the loads get 100% sealed with a full 6-sided sealing
  • Handling during loading and unloading situations is less complex due to powerful contamination forces given by RoRo StretchPack®. This way of horizontal pallet packaging makes the products almost immune to external impacts from low lifters and forklifts

Wrapping of goods is a costly process for production companies around the world. The Danish company Frank Bruhn Aps has developed a new technology, which can relieve the issue.

With a unique wrapping solution using stretch film, Frank Bruhn ApS has already put their machinery in operation in several European countries. An investment from The Danish Growth Fund, is going to boost the international expansion of the company, which as of September 1 changes its name to Tentoma.

Lower costs and better environment

Tentoma has patented elements of a packaging machine that ensures high packaging quality combined with cost saving, less environmental impact and improved work environment. The fully automatic wrapping machine stretches and wraps a tube of plastic foil over large goods from ex. saw mills, building and isolation producers and ensures a close-fitting wrapping.

“With our machines it is possible to package goods up to 6-8 meters long in a 100 pct. sealed plastic, protecting them from external impacts such as water, humidity and contamination. It is especially relevant when it comes to ex. isolation, building materials, wood and textile fabrics rolls. “This way we ensure significantly better packaging quality as well as reducing costs significantly by a reduction in wrapping material and energy consumption compared to traditional solutions. It means that our machines have a very attractive repayment period”, managing director of Tentoma, Henrik Raunkjær, explains.

He continues to elaborate that there are benefits for the environment as well, since the new wrapping technology works without the shrinkage ovens used in traditional package solutions. Thereby, a heat source can be eluded from the workplace, and the energy consumption and CO2 emission is reduced.

Wood Packaging on Ligna

Horizontal stretch packaging – Wood Packaging – a big success on Ligna

It was a pleasure for the team of Frank Bruhn ApS to present on Ligna how manufacturers can apply horizontal packaging in wood packaging for their long wood products such as doors, furniture and more of all sizes and shapes.

Example of cost saving (3,2 Eur/Wood Block) in film consumption when using RoRo StretchPack to pack a long wood block

A special stretchfilm applied in the RoRo StretchPack machine can be stretched up to an incredible 70%. Typically this means that film savings between 10 and 50% can be achieved. This is a new innovative way of optimizing current automated packaging lines.

A lot of customer dialogs on Ligna were also centered around how to automatize a packaging line in the first place with this new innovative way of packaging. The feed-back during the exhibition on the typical ROI times experienced by our current customers, indicated the vast cost saving potential our future customers are expecting to realize when investing in the RoRo StretchPack solution.

We thank all of the visitors for their genuin interest in the new generation of horizontal packaging machine.
