In standard operation, the RoRo StretchPack® packs one product per cycle. During each cycle, film for the next pack is rolled onto the four gripper arms of the gripper unit (GU). The GU then moves into the production lane, where the film is applied and sealed around the product to complete the packaging. To increase capacity, multiple products can be packed per cycle, known as semiflow packaging.
Increase packaging capacity with Semiflow packaging
With semiflow packaging, film for multiple products is rolled onto the gripper arms at the start of each cycle. This enables two or more products to be packed per cycle, depending on product length.
The primary benefit of semiflow packaging is that the machine does not need to roll up film on the gripper unit between each package. At the same time, a special double welding bar enables simultaneous front and back sealing. These features reduce cycle time and increase overall packaging capacity.
Additionally, semiflow packaging eliminates the need to cut film snippets at the ends of each package. A film snippet is only required for the last package in each cycle. This reduces film consumption per package and minimizes waste, simplifying recycling management.
In semiflow packaging mode, film for multiple products is unwound onto the gripper arms. This allows back sealing of the current package to run simultaneously with front sealing for the next product. As a result, cycle time is reduced and capacity is increased.
